Getting to Beaune

By train

You will most likely head to Beaune on a train. Here is the SNCF site for the latest on times and costs. It’s a pretty good site, giving you information on travel packages and concessions (don’t forget to bring your Australian Seniors Card for good discounts) and it has an English translation facility as well. [SNCF has its own radio station that plays while you browse – it’s pretty nifty.]

by car

According to Google Maps, it takes 2 hours and 12 minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport to our front door ( 28 Rue de Lorraine, Beaune 21200 FRANCE), but that is WITHOUT traffic. With traffic jams, allow for 3 hrs 50 minutes. There are car rentals available in Beaune, so get there by train and book after you arrive.

Of course you aren’t going to hurtle straight there from the airport; mostly you will leave from your booked accommodation in Paris. To get out of Paris, head for the Quai de la Rapee and follow your nose. It’s good to have a GPS handy as well (there are many references throughout history to the humble GPS saving many a marriage).

on foot

In case you are interested, Google Maps estimate that it will take you 64 hours if you decide to walk from Paris Central to our place WITHOUT STOPPING! If I were you, I’d reserve that energy for a gorgeous walk or two in the nearby Parc Naturel Regional du Morvan, a westerly stone’s throw from Beaune.
